How to talk about accuracy in mapping?
19 Ekim 2026
Just because the pixels in the map output are small does not automatically mean that the coordinates are correct. Before starting the project, put in writing what scale and error limit of results are desired.
GSD and absolute accuracy are different
Ground sampling interval (GSD) describes the range that a pixel in the image represents on the ground. Absolute accuracy shows how close the produced point is to the real coordinate. RTK/PPK and ground control points are important for this second issue.
Flight overlap and light
Aliasing ratio, flight altitude, sensor and lighting conditions affect model quality. Surfaces such as trees, bright roofs or monotonous fields can create separate problems.
Delivery file
Orthophoto, point cloud, digital elevation model and accuracy report are different products. The coordinate system, shooting date, method used and checkpoint results should be explained in the delivery package.
